National Archaeological Museum

National Archaeological Museum houses findings that emanated from excavations throughout the Marche region. Roman Amphitheater

Built during the reign of Emperor Augustus, the ruins of Ancona's massive Roman Amphitheater lies into the slope of Monte Guasco, above which stands the bewitching cathedral. Attached to the Roman Amphitheater is a building decorated with beautiful mosaics, also from the Augustan age; the building is believed to be a gladiator school. On a closer look, you'll notice that all the neighboring buildings carry forward the original design of the theater complex.

Passetto and War Memorial

Built in 1930, this beautiful white marble monument stands at the top of a long double staircase that falls in matching curves to the beautiful beach below. Piazza del Plebiscito

While on one end lies the church of San Domenico, the square is further surrounded by the Palazzo Mengoni Ferretti, the Civic Tower, and the 15th century Palazzo del Governo. There's even a statue of Pope Clement XII at one end, and in front of it are two beautiful fountains; one from the 19th century and the other one from the 15th century.
